Clustered recycled fibre in a percale shell: the plain, practical pillow. It is hypoallergenic, it weighs very little, and it goes through a 60 °C wash and a tumble dryer in an afternoon, which no natural fill does. That is the whole case for it.
Against it: synthetic fibre does not breathe like wool or down, so it is warmer against the face in summer, and it loses height faster than any natural fill. Expect to replace it after two or three years of nightly use. In a guest room it will last far longer.
