A heavy rib knit in combed cotton, for the places a wool throw does not survive: a sofa with pets, a child's bed, a house where everything goes in the machine. Cotton is less warm than wool for the weight and it does not spring back the way wool does, but it washes at 30 °C and nobody is allergic to it.
A chunky knit snags on claws and rings, and this one is no exception. It also stretches a little along its length over time, which the knit structure makes inevitable. Fold it rather than hanging it.
